A ceasefire in Gaza would be a vital respite, but it would come tragically late and after immense suffering and countless lives lost, says Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in a press release. The Nobel Peace Prize-winning organization, awaiting the signing and commencement of the ceasefire, is calling for more than a temporary pause in the fighting, so that people can rebuild their lives, regain their dignity and mourn the dead and all that has been lost.
Israel’s bombing must stop and a massive and urgent increase in humanitarian aid is needed to stop the catastrophic nutritional and medical needs of the population. The ceasefire, which must be a respected long-term one, is only the first step in addressing the humanitarian, psychological and medical needs of Gaza. MSF urges all parties to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches the people of the Gaza Strip immediately.
Above is the audio testimony in english language of Dr. Abu Abed, MSF Deputy Medical Coordinator in Gaza.
